So here I come to Cuzco, the ancient Inca capital, and now tourism capital of Peru! The city center is nice, clean and well guarded for us tourists in order to make us feel comfortable to spend our money. It works for almost everybody. I found a small hostel very nice and started to look for information for the two things I want to do here: Machu Picchu and a nice trek with ruins at the end: The Choquequirao. I start with the Machu Picchu until Nico joins me (can you remember which Nico I refer to?).
For those interested, to go to Machu Picchu, you must first go to Aguas Calientes which is the town at the bottom of the archaeological site. And to go there by yourself, you need to take a early morning bus from Cuzco to Santa Maria, then a taxi from Santa Maria to Santa Theresa, then another taxi from Santa Theresa to Hidroelectrica, then walk along the railway line for 2 hours! It's long but it's the cheapest you can do!
After a night in Aguas Calientes, I am in the herd to visit probably the most famous place of Peru, but it is true that it is beautiful! There is no denying the Incas mastered their stones! The buildings are really impressive and the place is beautiful, do not hesitate to go see the photos.
Back to Cuzco, I found Nico who just arrived with a German friend, Henning, whom he met along the way. After the reunion we begin to prepare for our next adventure: The trek that will take us to the site of Choquequirao!
